About this Site

Welcome to AZCARtraining.com, which is designed to support the D-ENG broadcast operations training provided by AZCAR as part of the Sprint Nextel BAS re-banding activity. The Distance Learning portion of the service is delivered by Ku Band satellite with wire-line audio return and Internet coordination. This site supports that activity, providing access to the current training schedule and materials and links to relevant sites. It also provides a portal to ask additional question and receive answers as well as a FAQ and Recent Questions section, which we suggest you browse first as the answer you seek may already be there. The Ku band service is on Galaxy 25, at 97 W with carrier ID 1736729; 11778.700 MHz, H pol, Symbol Rate 3.978723, 3/4 FEC, 5.5 MBps. We welcome feedback that will help us to improve our service and support during the transition to D-ENG. The registration screen, which requires a callsign, company or "Guest" ID and "pop-ups allowed" to register, is to the right. ©AZCAR Training Systems 2007; (412) 931-8178; info@azcartraining.com

FCC issues long-awaited deadline ruling   -  Thursday, March 06, 2008 WASHINGTON, DC: The Federal Communications Commission issued, on March 5, the ruling the broadcasting industry has been awaiting ever since the passing of the original BAS relocation deadline last September. In response to a joint petition by Sprint Nextel and other entities, the FCC granted a waiver of the original deadline until March 5, 2009. The joint petition had requested a waiver until February, 2010. In granting the shorter-than-requested waiver term, the FCC indicated that they “hold open the option of extending this waiver upon further consideration.”

The 33-page order (available at the link at left and in the Library section of this site for logged-in users), in addition to moving the completion deadline, establishes certain benchmark and reporting requirements. It also invites comment – by means of a Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking – on proposals to resolve remaining issues affecting Mobile Satellite Service (MSS) licensees who will use some of the reallocated spectrum.
